ZOÉ VALDÉS – Be Careful, It’s My Heart

Zoé Valdés of Cuba, who now lives and writes in Paris, is the author of Yocandra in the Paradise of Nada. “Be Careful, It’s My Heart” is from I Gave You All I Had, a novel to be published in the spring of 2000.

P.K. PAGE – Fever

P.K. Page of Canada began publishing in the 1940s, when she was a member of Montreal’s Preview Group. Her works of poetry include: The Glass Air, Hologram, and The Hidden Room: Collected Poems. Of note is her memoir, Brazilian Journal. Most recently, a bilingual Selected P.K. Page appeared in Italy: Rosa dei venti ‹ Compass Rose.

Doni ScOb of Canada has published in the literary journals Existere, Rampike, Alphabeat, and Frogpond.

BILL GASTON – Driving Under the Influence

Bill Gaston of Canada is the author of Bella Combe Journal and two other novels, Tall Lives and The Cameraman; of three collections of short fiction, Deep Cove Stories, Sex Is Red and North of Jesus’ Beans, and a book of poetry, Inviting Blindness. He is also the author of two plays, Yardsale and I Am Danielle Steel.


Steven Hayward of Canada has published stories in Iowa Review, Canadian Fiction Magazine, Crazyhorse, The Fiddlehead and The Greensboro Review. His first book of fiction, Buddha Stevens and Other Stories will appear in the spring of 2000.

JENI COUZYN – A Time to be Born

Jeni Couzyn of Canada, now working in London, is the author of Christmas in Africa, Monkey’s Wedding, The Happiness Bird, In the Skin House, Homecoming, the song-cycle, Grace for Love, and Life by Drowning. Her collaboration with C.W. Wilks, A Time to Be Born, will appear soon in England. Her Selected Poems will be published in Canada in the spring of 2000.

Claire Weissman Wilks of Canada, sculptor, lithographer, painter, whose work is in numerous private and institutional collections, has had one-woman exhibitions in Stockholm, Zagreb, Rome, Jerusalem, Venice, Calgary, New York, and her home town, Toronto.

STEPHEN ZEIFMAN – Peripheral Vision

Stephen Zeifman of Canada is the author of a novel, The Family Man.

ABILIO ÉSTEVEZ – The Faithful Dead

Abilio Estévez of Cuba, living and writing in Havana, is the author of several plays, including the award-winning Night, a collection of poems, Manual of Temptations, and a volume of short stories, Game with Gloria. His first novel, Thine Is the Kingdom, will appear in the spring of 2000.
